GOLF & RESORT

A transformation taking place at the Chateau du Bois d’Arlon...
Extending over more than 220 hectares, the exclusive Chateau du Bois d’Arlon estate is currently undergoing a transformation to become the perfect destination for golf lovers, families, holidaymakers and business clients. We will soon be able to offer no less than two golf courses, a 64 room 4-star hotel, a restaurant with fine dining for 150, a spa, a gym and 14 family lodges. Owner Robert Schintgen and his company RS Properties have commissioned EDDA Luxembourg (formerly C-Services) to develop a digital identity for this exceptional and unmissable location in the Greater Region.

The Bois d’Arlon Golf & Resort aims to offer guests a truly top class experience: the perfect combination of relaxation, gastronomy, golf and an exceptional stay in one modern yet authentic setting. Whilst the Chateau du Bois d’Arlon and the Jardins of the Conciergerie are already open as a unique location for both private and professional events, the Bois d’Arlon Golf and Resort is due to open its doors in 2023. This hugely ambitious project is the brainchild of the entrepreneur Robert Schintgen, who acquired the Chateau du Bois d’Arlon in 2011 and the rest of the Estate in 2014.

Golf, Nature and Ecology

Ultimately, it will have taken almost 10 years to make Robert Schintgen’s dream a reality. At the heart of the Bois d’Arlon Golf & Resort are the two golf courses, which have been designed by two English architects. Conceived by Jonathan Davison, the “Parkland” course has been designed to blend seamlessly into the Estate’s magnificent park. The Heathland course by Stuart Hallett will however be wilder and incorporating existing vegetation (ferns, broom etc.). Suitable for both for amateur and professional golfers, these two exceptional courses have both been designed first and foremost with utmost respect for the environment. In Robert Schintgen’s own words: « Right from the start it was absolutely vital for us that our project respected and remained fully integrated with its natural surroundings ».

No effort has been spared to ensure that golf, nature and ecology remain in total harmony. « The irrigation systems are adjusted to the nearest millimeter. All water ending up in the wastewater treatment plant will be used for watering. Rainwater will be collected, used a first time and then re-used again in the irrigation systems. We are also going to create a reservoir so that we are able to store water. We will not be using tap water in any of our watering systems, and we do not intend to drill any boreholes whatsoever. Furthermore, we won’t be using any kind of plant protection pesticide to control weeds. This approach was developed in the first instance for our golf courses » explains Olivier Boulard, the project’s technical manager, who adds that they will also be using solar thermal panels as well as a cogeneration plant, « which will help us to maximise our energy efficiency ».

RS Properties is also anxious to ensure that the flora, fauna and local biodiversity will not be adversely affected in any way by the creation of the new resort. « In fact, our aim is to boost local biodiversity by creating new bodies of water and replanting trees. And of course, the golf courses represent a mere 25% of the estate » insists Oliver Boulard, who is also keen to remind us that an ecologically friendly golf course will easily blend in with this wonderful natural setting.

An exceptional location that is open to everyone

A 64 room 4-star hotel, a top class restaurant seating 150, and 14 family lodges will also be part of the final package. « We want the Bois d’Arlon Golf & Resort to be a place of relaxation and recreation where everyone is welcome. We also plan to create a cycle path, and we want to ensure safe and secure access for ramblers and cyclists, and public transport connections. It will be somewhere that is open to everyone » Robert Schintgen insists. The project will also create about one hundred new jobs, which will be a real boon for Arlon and the surrounding area.

Une architecture digitale menée par EDDA Luxembourg

As part of the future transformation of the Bois d’Arlon estate, RS Properties has called upon the Luxembourg-based software development specialists EDDA to conceive and develop its new digital identity. « RS Properties asked us to develop the digital platform for the future Bois d’Arlon Golf & Resort. We felt that that it was essential to take a holistic, extremely innovative approach to be sure that the client would be able to respond properly to challenges in the future » explains Mickaël Samy, Head of Digital Strategy at EDDA Luxembourg, who is proud to be working with RS Properties on a project of this nature. « Mr Schintgen and his team have been impressed from the very beginning by our ability to understand and respond to the needs of the project. The quality and skills of the EDDA team translates into 360-degree support for the client and his digital project, from the design of a new logo to the development of an all round communication strategy, as well as the creation of a B2B and B2C platform that is firmly focused on the future. We are convinced that this managed and customized digital strategy will be a mechanism for generating more business as well as an operational support ».

Providing this kind of service to the project has been a real challenge for the EDDA teams, as the project is extremely ambitious, and unique in Europe. « We firmly believe that it will be a huge success. It is also a project that addresses a number of key themes in today’s society: employment, sport, leisure and ecology, which is one of Robert Schintgen’s core values » , Mickaël Samy continues. «And this is a value that EDDA Luxembourg also shares ».

This collaboration with RS Properties has given the Cappellen-based company the opportunity to branch out into a new sector of activity. « IT requirements are universal, and from banks to real estate, every company has a need for digital solutions. The « Bois d’Arlon Golf & Resort » project shows that above and beyond our technical expertise, we also have the capacity and capability to take on projects that are very diverse ».
